Tell us more, why Syre?

Having been part of creating and scaling companies that enable the green transition for an entire industry, I am extremely excited to be part of founding Syre. This is clearly the next industry in line where a transformation is much needed. Textile waste is a huge global challenge and less than 1% of the global textile fiber market comes from recycled textiles today. We simply figured it was time to do something about that – with speed and at scale.

Why now?

The textile industry is at a tipping point as the European Union and other actors are introducing legislation that will regulate waste and accelerate demand for circular materials. As a plug and play solution into the existing textile value chain, Syre will be key in meeting these requirements and enabling delivery on the ambitious sustainability targets for all polyester intense industries such as apparel, automotive, and home interiors.

What is your call-out to the industry?

I honestly think this is an industry that needs more action than words. To fundamentally drive real change, committing to circular solutions at scale is needed. Syre is here to partner up with everyone who wishes to truly drive the textile shift – not only for the sake of their brands and consumer promises but for the sake of the planet.
