Jad Finck – Chief Commerical Officer
Tell us about your background?
I’ve been in the decarbonization industry since before it was cool. The common theme has always been how do we lower the planet’s reliance on fossil fuels and address the challenges of climate change by reducing the environmental footprint of everything we make and do?
I’ve invested in climate tech from Chevron’s energy venture capital fund, scaled-up new renewable materials from start-up to greenfield production plant in Brazil with Solazyme, and built a sustainable consumer brand from founding team through IPO at Allbirds. Now, I’m honored t obe leading the commercial team at Syre as we bring circular textiles to the world at hyperscale.
Why Syre?
The team, the technology, the investors and the mission. Syre is laser-focused on the biggest material challenge in the world – how to decarbonize and dewaste the most used material in the textile industry: polyester. Syre has built the company around this fundamental consumer challenge and is using a full ecosystem approach to close the loop by taking what our customers can’t use anymore, converting it back to virgin quality and returning it to them to be used in new products. Backed by visionary investors, Syre now also has the financial heft to pursue its mission at full speed.
What is your key message to the industry?
No more excuses. For too long, the refrain in the apparel and footwear industry has been “true circularity is just not ready for prime time – the technology isn’t there yet”. But virgin materials are now able to be made profitably from waste, at scale, again and again and again. And regulations will increasingly demand it. The future-focused brands are well aware that this textile shift is happening, and realize that very soon circular materials will be scarce and locked up by the early movers. We would love to be your partner in bringing true circularity to the industry – reach out to us today and join great textile shift!
