Camilla Skjønning Jørgensen – Commercial Development Director
After 20+ years inthe fashion segment, where would you say the industry is at in terms ofsustainability?
Two decades working with sustainable fashion did show a dramatic shift. Once regarded as a light sprinkle on a main collection, sustainability then became a niche, then a trend. Now, legislation is making circularity and lower impact practices anecessity, driven by the urgency of environmental concerns. We’ve moved beyond hype and into implementation. It’s time to turn talk into action, proving the business case for sustainability through continuous innovation – because, even if interest may fluctuate, now it’s all about hard work. This is our critical moment to shape a truly responsible and profitable textile industry.
Why did you choose to join Syre?
Climate change poses a significant threat, and we must all take action to mitigate its impact. We need to move at hyper speed, transitioning sustainable solutions from discussions to strategic decisions and action. I am committed to contributing to this crucial endeavor, and Syre is truly on this mission.
What is your vision?
Proving that good business can benefit both people and the planet while also being profitable. Offering suppliers and brands the chance to embrace this approach, so it is common practice to do what causes least harm. My vision is a world where good choices consistently outweigh the bad.
