High Impact Knowledge Management
|
High Impact Knowledge Management is based on getting results, rapidly. Most organizations spend their time putting in place heavy-duty training programs for which the pay-off never seems to come. This is because the training is not linked into daily practice. Operational People know that it is better to have one or two simple tools that work than a whole bookshelf of training courses that gather dust. The whole idea of High Impact is, first of all, to get together a team which has a serious desire to capture the value of what it produces or a major opportunity to seize. Then, a skilled consultant analyzes their needs from a "knowledge economy" perspective and shows the team or Knowledge Managet a set of simple tools which they implement at the same time as they begin to produce results. These tools will allow them to come up with answers to the problem by themselves. In 2009 one of John Gaynard's clients, a subsidiary of a French multinational corporation, won a major innovation trophy for the Knowledge Management system he had helped them to put in place. Here is the citation that accompanied the award. Multiple Benefits. In just one year, the three key areas for work have produced convincing results. They have led to the emergence of a community of outsourced management practices and seven best practice exchanges bringing together 66 participants. This has made it possible to set up (a propriety Wiki). This tool is designed for capitalising on knowledge and 83 accounts have been opened out of a total of 200 participating staff. A toolbox has been created to meet tendering requirements. Training and human resources videos have been produced at the Special Operations workshops. These videos will be used to support relevant training themes. KM has promoted the use of new technologies, including Visio, Webex, Video, Wiki. The creation of a global knowledge sharing project should be added to all of these benefits. The success of these work vectors is leading to the creation of other exchange projects at national level. New spaces have been opened on the Wiki and new communities of practice are forming. With the KM project (this subsidiary) of the company is once again proving its capacity to innovate, as well as appropriating a global management concept, developing it based on needs and turning it in to a key advantage for its clients and staff. |
